St George-Illawarra Dragons continued their upturn in from as they shutout the Newcastle Knights to claim a third straight win with a 13-0 away success on Saturday.

The Dragons lost their first two games to start the new season but have since hit stride and produced an outstanding defensive display to take the points at Hunter Stadium.

Both sides were forced to battle wet and windy conditions and it was the Dragons who dealt with them better, taking the lead in the 12th minute as Etonia Nabuli crossed in the corner.

Gareth Widdop knocked over a penalty in the 38th minute to put the Dragons 6-0 up, with a converted Josh Dugan try and a drop goal from Benji Marshall effectively putting the game beyond doubt in the second half.

In Saturday's other game, Canberra Raiders secured their second win of the campaign by beating Manly Sea Eagles 29-16.

Tom Trbojevic opened the scoring for Manly after two minutes, but Canberra - inspired by a man-of-the-match performance from half-back Blake Austin - ran in four first-half tries to take command.

A Sam Williams drop goal and a Jarrod Croker try made it 29-4 to the Raiders in the 54th minute, with a late show of spirit from Manly providing little more than consolation.
