Dustin Brown brought Rafael Nadal's Wimbledon to an early end with a stunning four-set win in the second round.
Qualifier Brown, ranked 102 in the world, beat Nadal at Halle last year and provided more misery for the two-time champion by beating the Spaniard 7-5 3-6 6-4 6-4 on Centre Court.
The German hit 58 winners on his way to the biggest victory of his career, producing heroics with the volley and the drop shot to knock out Nadal, who has not gone beyond the fourth round at the All England club since 2011.
Brown will next play Viktor Troicki after he saw off Aljaz Bedene in four sets.
While Nadal succumbed to a player ranked outside the world's top 100 for the fourth year in a row at Wimbledon, second and third seeds Roger Federer and Andy Murray both eased through in straight sets.
Federer produced a shot for the highlights reel by hitting a winner with an audacious lob through his legs at the baseline with the racquet behind his back in his 6-4 6-2 6-2 victory over Sam Querrey.
There was no such flamboyance from Murray, the 2013 champion ruthlessly efficient in his 6-1 6-1 6-4 dismantling of Robin Haase, which sets up a meeting with Andreas Seppi - a five-set winner over Borna Coric.
Tomas Berdych was another straight-sets victor, the sixth seed beating Nicolas Mahut 6-1 6-4 6-4, but Gilles Simon had to overcome a jitter in the third set to see off Blaz Kavcic 6-1 6-1 6-7 (5-7) 6-1.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga eased to triumph over Albert Ramos, whose fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez joined Ramos and Nadal in crashing out of the tournament with a five-set defeat to Nikoloz Basilashvili.
Lopez, seeded 15th, twice came back from a set behind in the match, but a double-break in the decider from Basilashvili settled the contest in the Georgian's favour 7-5 3-6 6-3 2-6 6-4.
Gael Monfils overcame French compatriot Adrian Mannarino, Vasek Pospisil knocked out 30th seed Fabio Fognini and Ivo Karlovic triumphed in a five-set marathon against Alexandr Dolgopolov, eventually winning 5-7 6-3 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 13-11.
Elsewhere in the draw there were wins for Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Andujar and home favourite James Ward.
