Greg Inglis is ready to play at full-back if required as Australia look to continue their dominance of New Zealand in the ANZAC Test on Friday.

Melbourne Storm's Billy Slater has been ruled out of the traditional Test due to a shoulder injury, meaning Inglis is likely to don the number one jersey.

The Kangaroos, who have four debutants in their squad, have won the past 13 ANZAC Tests and 14 of the 15.

Even without Slater, Australia will enter the clash at Suncorp Stadium as favourites, and Inglis is open to switching to full-back from left centre.

"I'd put my hand up to play anywhere in the green and gold," he told a media conference on Tuesday.

"I'd be comfortable putting the number one on and played there during the Four Nations last year so I did get the feeling of playing full-back at the highest level.

"We'll just have to wait and see what 'Sheensy' [coach Tim Sheens] comes up with. We've got a number of number ones in this side so we'll just wait and see that decision when the coaches get together."

Josh Dugan, Alex Johnston, Michael Jennings and Will Chambers are all capable of slotting in at full-back if required.

New Zealand were also dealt a blow in the lead-up.

Penrith Panthers utility Dallin Watene-Zelezniak accepted a one-match ban from the NRL judiciary, delaying his international debut.

Veteran Jason Nightingale has been called into the New Zealand squad.

The Kiwis have most of their 2014 Four Nations-winning players available against an Australia team with four debutants.

But they need to be wary of the Kangaroos' stars in Inglis, Johnathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith.

If they can limit the influence of that quartet, a second win in 16 ANZAC Tests could be on the cards.
