Warrnambool-based trainer Symon Wilde has produced an impressive five winners on the opening day of the carnival, including the feature Brierly Steeplechase.

'The Bool' kicked off its annual three-day May carnival on Tuesday, with a huge 10-race card including both flat and hurdle races.

Wilde gained two of the three steeplechase events early in the day with Count Zero and Rider In The Snow, while Mio Capo broke its maiden in the fourth race on the card.

Vanguard would also salute for the Wilde stable in the Brierly Steeplechase over 3450m, which is the feature race of the opening day of the carnival.

Valac had a fall in that same hurdles race, but trainer J.D Hayes said the gelding was "just winded" and not injured following a post-race examination.

Bermadez proved too strong in the Magic Millions National Sale Handicap, with a brilliant steer from Damien Oliver getting the five-year-old gelding home.

Wilde would claim his fifth winner of the day in the penultimate race, with As I Please finishing first past the post at big odds.

See below for the full results from the opening day at 'The Bool'.
