This year's Melbourne Cup Carnival will conclude on Thursday, with the running of the annual VRC Oaks at Flemington slated for November 9th.

After a hectic few days that saw Riff Rocket win the Derby and Without A Fight claim the Melbourne Cup, the attention now turns to some of the best three-year-old fillies in the country vying for a total of $1 million in prize money.

She's Extreme took out last year's race, while other recent winners include Miami Bound and Jameka.

What is the VRC Oaks? 

Introduced in 1861, the VRC Oaks is a set-weights race contested by three-year-old fillies each spring, competing for a share in $1 million worth of total prize money. 

The race is run over 2500 metres and first earned Group 1 status in 1979.

When is the 2023 VRC Oaks?

This year's VRC Oaks raceday will take place on Thursday, November 9th. 

It will be the eighth of nine races at Flemington and is expected to jump at 5.10pm AEDT.
