Leading jockey Nash Rawiller has had his fine reduced by Racing NSW, but will still facing a two-week ban for his ride on Think It Over in the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
The 47-year-old was originally hit with a $40,000 fine for excessive whip use in the Group 1 affair, which saw him steer the six-year-old gelding towards the widest part of the track and was able to topple Annabel Neasham's star Zaaki.
The fine has now been reduced to $30,000 for the incident, but Rawiller was unable to have his suspension reduced or lifted.
The Racing NSW Appeal Panel today handed down its decision in respect to the appeal of jockey Nash Rawiller following a breach of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for whip use on Think It Over in the Queen Elizabeth Stks conducted at Royal Randwick on Sat, 9 April 2022 (1/2)

2. Penalty of 2 wk suspension confirmed as per determination of Stewards
3. Appeal against severity of fine allowed
4. In lieu of a fine of $40K, appellant (by majority) fined $30K
Rawiller was lauded for his brave tactics aboard Think It Over, taking him to the drier part of the ground in tough conditions at Royal Randwick.
