The Melbourne Spring Racing carnival continues with Oaks Day - known as 'Ladies Day' in its traditional slot on the Thursday after the Melbourne Cup.

With crowds back gracing the Flemington course, the meet will feature one Group 1 race and two Group 3 races.

Sporting News has everything you need to know about the Kennedy Oaks Day 2021.

When is Oaks Day 2021?

This year's Kennedy Oaks Day meet will take place on Thursday, November 4.

It is traditionally held on the Thursday after the main event Melbourne Cup race, which runs on the first Tuesday of November.

Oaks Day was first held 160 years ago in 1861 and has a record crowd attendance of 110,677 - set in 2004.

Where is Oaks Day held?

Oaks Day is held at Flemington Racecourse, which is about 6km northwest of Melbourne's CBD.

Flemington opened in 1840 and now features a six furlong or 1200m straight, known as 'the Straight Six'. Its home straight is 450m long and races are run anti-clockwise.

What time is the Kennedy Oaks Group 1 race?

The main race of the day - the Group 1 $1 million Kennedy Oaks - will start at 5.10pm (AEDT).

How to watch Oaks Day 2021 races?

10 Network  will broadcast all major racedays across the Melbourne Cup carnival, including Oaks Day.

They'll also air the Seppelt Wines Stakes Day on Saturday, 7 November.

Channel 7  - which had broadcast the race for a number of years - will still broadcast Victorian race meets during 2020 and 2021, except the Melbourne Cup carnival.

What are the conditions and prizemoney for the Kennedy Oaks?

The Kennedy Oaks will be run over 2500m.

The winner of the race will receive a purse of $1 million.

Who won the 2021 Kennedy Oaks?

Willowy has won this year's Group 1 Kennedy Oaks, flashing home to give Damien Oliver his 7th win in the race.

The three-year-old Godolphin-trained filly started the race as favourite and was right in the running as they turned, before putting in a last-ditch effort to stop Douceur on the line.

The win was Oliver's 126th at Group 1 level and was the final feature of Melbourne Cup week.

Speaking after the race, Oliver admitted it was touch-and-go with the filly, but ultimately was proud to claim another win in the famous race.

“I didn’t know if I was going to get there until the last bit," he told Channel 10.

"The second horse really looked like it had us, but I really asked her for a big effort late and she responded really well.

"I think it is something with that Cummings name on the end of the trainer that really helps in these staying tests and there is no doubt James has inherited a lot of that from his father and his grandfather.

"It’s pretty amazing to think a little kid from Perth could be up with those world-famous names, it’s something I’m pretty proud of."

James Cummings was full of praise for Willowy after two consecutive wins, and also paid tribute to his team for their efforts.

“It’s great for the team first and foremost," he told Racing.com.

"There’s a hell of a lot that goes into producing horses like Willowy to be at their best for days like this.

"It takes a filly with a great temperament and great constitution to do what she’s done in the last week, and she’s been able to deliver.

“He (Oliver) is a marvellous competitor and he teams up really well with us. I’m grateful for it, he is a really good guy to team up with and he presents very well and speaks well.

"Someone told me they thought they could hear him roaring when he went past the enclosure – he’s done a great job for us this carnival."
