Melbourne Cup day has officially arrived, with the race that stops the nation scheduled for 3pm at the famous Flemington Racecourse.

Headlining a jam-packed 10-race card, the annual $8 million feature event will include some of the best staying horses from across the globe, including last year's winner Gold Trip and overseas import Vauban.

As we know, Melbourne weather can be a little shaky at times, but fans can expect to see plenty of high-quality action throughout the afternoon and hopefully some winners along the way.

Will it rain for the Melbourne Cup?

At this stage, there is forecasted to be 50 per cent chance of rain at Flemington on Tuesday, with about 20 per cent chance around the time of the Cup at 3pm AEDT. 

However, if it does rain, it would only be a small amount between zero and two millimetres across the entire day, with the potential for a thunderstorm, meaning the track should remain in reasonably good condition.

What is the temperature for the Melbourne Cup?

The forecast in Melbourne for Tuesday is minimum of 17 degrees and maximum of 31 degrees.

The annual 3200m event is expected to jump at 3pm AEDT.
