Melbourne will kick off their Spring Racing Carnival on Saturday 10th September, with the running of the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington. 

Formerly known as the Craiglee Stakes, the name was changed in 2007 to honour the legendary three-time Melbourne Cup winner. 

Incentivise took out the 2021 edition of the race, while other winners of the race include Shocking and Mahogany.

WHAT IS THE MAKYBE DIVA STAKES? 

Formerly the Craiglee Stakes, it is a Group 1 event contested over 1600m at Flemington Racecourse. 

The name was changed to honour three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva, who captured the hearts and minds of racing fans in the mid-2000s. 

WHEN IS MAKYBE DIVA STAKES 2022?

This year's Makybe Diva raceday will take place on Saturday, 10th September. 

The feature race of the day will be the G1 Makybe Diva Stakes, which will take place at 2.55pm.

The prizemoney for the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes sits at $1 million. 

Connections of the winning horse will take home $600,000, with second place receiving $180,000.
