All of the headlines on Saturday afternoon were centred on Winx winning an historic 33rd race on the bounce, but a fall in an earlier race marred the day's action.
The incident occurred right in front of the grandstands at the end of the $150,000 Listed Fernhill Handicap (1600m) for two-year-olds.
Persan and War Baron - both trained by David Payne - fell in the final 25 metres of the race.
Persan appeared to clip heels after jockey Glyn Schofield attempted to angle out from behind leaders Foxborough and Power Scheme.
On the outside, War Baron was brought down by Persan.
Power Scheme beat Foxborough to the post, but attention quickly turned to Schofield and War Baron's felled jockey Andrew Adkins.
It appeared Adkins' mount rolled on him, and while he remained conscious, he was in clear discomfort.
Schofield - who himself was sore despite getting to his feet - went over to Adkins before the latter was tended to by medical staff.
Adkins has since been taken to Prince of Wales Hospital.
Both horses were uninjured in the incident. However, stewards are set to launch an inquiry into the incident.
Randwick: Jockey Glyn Schofiled has been examined by the clubs Doctor following a fall in Race 1 and has been cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements. Jockey Schofield will continue to be monitored by the Doctor prior to his next ride. @atc_races
