The Best Of The Racing League's Trainers' Chances On Everest Day image

It's been an enormous week for owners in The Racing League with Yulong Captain’s brilliant victory in the Hamilton Cup last Saturday, who will now be nominated for the Lexus Stakes on Derby Day (Oct 30) or the 2800m stayers race on Melbourne Cup Day (Nov 2).

The Big Goodbye goes to Eagle Farm this Saturday for owners of the Queensland Rogues.

TRL trainers have the favourites in two of the nation's biggest races this Saturday - Joe Pride with Eduardo in the $15million Everest at Randwick and Peter Moody with Incentivise at short odds in the Caulfield Cup.

Now let’s try and find some winners from our TRL trainers below, courtesy of the great Terry Kennedy.

JOE PRIDE IS MR COOL

“No I’m not nervous because the horse (Eduardo) has never been better," he said.

"He’s had a perfect preparation, is at the peak of his powers and will run a hell of a race."

Eduardo simply checks all the boxes. He won the traditional lead-up The Shorts defeating Nature Strip, he went super in a recent barrier trial and has never missed a place on a rain-affected track.

No wonder Eduardo is a $5.50 chance with Sportsbet and has been well supported.

Joe can also win the first with a horse called Zoushack $4.80 at Sportsbet who also gets through the going.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT GAI

Gai Waterhouse is yet to win an Everest and has Embracer lining up as a rank outsider on Saturday.

I can’t see it finishing in the top 5, but I will be prepared to support another of Gai’s runners Entente in the St Leger Stakes (Race 9). Entente is clearly in career best form, was just caught on the line in the Metropolitan and relishes the ground including a win on a heavy track.

BET: Entente - Win (Sydney Race 9)

FREEDMAN BROTHERS TWO PRONGED ATTACK

Richard and Michael Freedman certainly aren’t afraid to travel their horses.

On their home track at Randwick, High Supremacy (Race 2) looks like a good thing and the team at Sportsbet agree it’s the favourite at the skinny quote of $2.20.

While at Caulfield, Park Avenue (Race 3) appears to be enormous value at $7.50 with Sportsbet. Park Avenue has had three starts this preparation and has had no luck in all three starts. While he is up in grade he’s due for a change of luck.

INCENTIVISE TO OVERCOME HORROR BARRIER DRAW

Vic Husslers trainer Peter Moody has declared his Caulfield Cup favourite Incentivise has “improved since his win in the Turnbull Stakes and will have no excuses come the big race."

Drawing barrier 20 is hardly ever an advantage but he’ll go forward from the gate and be up near the lead, if not leading.

After the Cup Moody can win with Oxley Road (Race 10). He’s performed well in two starts this preparation and can win.

MAHER AND EUSTACE CONTINUE TO DOMINATE

63 winners already this season for the Ciaron Maher/Dave Eustace training duo shows just how lucky we are to have them in the Vic Husslers stable and the show is set to roll on at Caulfield on Saturday.

Race 4: Biscayne Bay - Won the SA Sires’ Produce and now a more mature filly who should relish the 2000m of the Ethereal Stakes.

Race 7: Steinman - Was behind the placegetters first-up, had a slow recovery rate and did win second up last campaign.

Race 8: How Womantic - Was a real eye catcher first-up getting way too far back before reeling off amazing sectionals, can win this at good odds $8.50 Sportsbet.

PRICE & KENT PROVING A GREAT DOUBLE

Mick Price and Michael Kent junior continue to impress and have two outstanding chances a Caulfield unfortunately they are in the same event race 5.

Gunstock is a short priced favourite but I actually prefer the second of the stable’s runners in Tiz Magic. He’s only had two career starts, they’ve both been good and if he can improve to the next level
looks good value at Sportsbet $7.50.

BET: Tiz Magic - Win (Melb Race 5)

HEATHCOTE LIKES THE BIG GOODBYE

The Queensland Rogues owners are pretty pumped about the chances of The Big Goodbye at Eagle Farm tomorrow and so they should be. He’s had two starts for the Rogue’s team for two great seconds.

"The Big Goodbye well I simply cannot be any happier with him," trainer Rob Heathcote said.

"His work at home has been sharp, focused and full of enthusiasm. We know he raced well on this track at his first go and the track should have a bit of give in it after the rain throughout the week”.

GOLLAN FROM START TO FINISH

Eight-time champion trainer Tony Gollan has a couple of short priced favourites at Eagle Farm in Salateen (Race 4) and Royal Hale (Race 7). I’ll watch on and give them a cheer.

I’m keen on another Gollan runner, Le Palmier (Race 10) who has been placed in all three starts and has the hoof on the till.

BET: Le Palmier - Each Way (Bris Race 10)
