You know what’s better than having a horse you OWN racing on Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington?
OWNING a horse that WINS on Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington.
Team Captain delivered on that dream and now trainer Matt Cumani has the Melbourne Cup next year firmly in his sights.
“The best bit is there are some shares still available in this horse. I'd be buying as many as I can” Cumani said at the trophy presentation.
Simply go to www.trl.net to purchase.
No runners for TRL this weekend, but our trainers have a stack of chances across three states.
Let’s try and find a winner, courtesy of Terry Kennedy.

JOE PRIDE TO FINISH CARNIVAL WITH A BANG
I’m sticking like glue to Joe Pride who’s taking Private Eye to Flemington for the feature event the Mackinnon Stakes 2000m.
Two starts ago Private Eye won the Epsom at Randwick and simply got too far back and in the wrong part of the track last start in the Golden Eagle.
At $11 with Sportsbet he represents great value in the Mackinnon.
At Rosehill, there’s $1million up for grabs for the two-year-olds in Race 7 - incredible money. Pride has Shalatin who was good on debut and with the benefit of that experience is the one to beat.
To top it off, Joe has Zoushack (Race 10) on a seven day back-up. This miRunners owned horse is as “tough as an old boot” and will give you an enormous sight.
BET: Private Eye - Each Way (Melb Race 8)
BET: Shalatin - Each Way (Syd Race 7)
BET: Zoushack - Each Way (Syd Race 10)
BUSSUTTIN AND YOUNG HAVE A GODDESS
Don’t want to let the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young trained have Tyche Goddess (Race 3) sneaked under our guard.
This mare has improved with every start this campaign, is now fourth-up - so at peak fitness and will go forward with Nash onboard and prove tough to beat.
BET: Tyche Goddess - Each Way (Melb Race 3)
MAHER JUMPS BORDER
There’s a possibility that Vic Husslers trainer Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace will train more winners at Rosehill this Saturday than in their home state down south.
The Melbourne power-combo should be saluting the judge at Rosehill with Herman Hesse (Race 1) he’s already been smashed in the early Sportsbet markets firming to $3.80.
Mayfair Spirit has also been well supported in early betting, granted he’s no superstar but honest and a big chance around that $5 mark.
Blaze A Trail (Race 9) is new to Maher/Eustace stable, he’s won first-up before and has been firm in the market.
BET: Herman Hesse - Win (Syd Race 1)
BET: Mayfair Spirit - Each Way (Syd Race 3)
BET: Blaze A Trail - Win (Syd Race 9)
CAVANOUGH COMES TO TOWN
Brett Cavanough has etched his name in history by being the first person to train a winner in The Racing League with The Sherpa.
Cav picks his moments to come to town and no doubt thinks Schiller’s Myst (Race 2) is that right horse in the Highway.
Schiller’s Myst is coming off a win, looks to be a progressive type and has been hammered in early Sportsbet markets.
Bet: Schiller’s Myst - Each Way (Syd Race 2)
TONY GOLLAN TO BOUNCE BACK
It was a tough day at the office last week for eight time champion trainer Tony Gollan with a couple of odds on favourites not performing.
In saying that Shamaton (Race 4) opened up odds on at Sportsbet and has continued to firm even further.
Shamaton looked good winning two starts back and last start stormed home but was too late.
I prefer the $5 Nicci’s Spirit (Race 7) who has finished strongly for impressive wins at the Sunshine Coast and Ipswich.
BET: Shamaton - Win (Bris Race 4)
BET: Nicci’s Spirit - Win (Bris Race 7)
EDMONDS STABLE PUSH THE BUTTON
Toby and Trent Edmonds are super impressed with the Qld Rogues I Am Invincible filly that they’ve requested TRL rush through the naming process so they can get to the official trials and attack the rich two-year-old races.
Simply go to trl.net to get involved.
The Edmonds camp has a couple of live chances on Saturday at Eagle Farm. The best of them comes in the last Race 8 - Rucca. He’s been unlucky this campaign but has found the right race here and deserves to win.
BET: Rucca - Each Way (Race 8)
