The world's richest race on turf will return for another edition this October, with the running of the $15 million TAB Everest at Royal Randwick. 

Nature Strip romped home to victory in 2021, before heading to the UK and proving itself as the world's best sprinter.

Here's everything you need to know about The Everest 2022. 

WHEN IS THE EVEREST 2022?

The Everest is scheduled for Saturday, October 15th. 

Part of a 10-race card at Randwick, The Everest is set to kick off at 4:15pm as Race 7.

WHERE IS THE EVEREST RUN?

The Everest takes place at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney’s East.

The track is roughly 6km from the CBD of Sydney and is one of the city’s most iconic racing venues.

THE EVEREST 2022 CONFIRMED RUNNERS AND SLOT HOLDERS

All runners have been confirmed for The Everest, including last year's winner Nature Strip. 

Snapdancer was originally named in the Inglis slot, but has since been ruled out. 

TAB's runner Lost And Running has also been scratched, ruled out on Saturday morning after being found to be lame in the off-hind leg.

HOW TO WATCH THE EVEREST?

Channel 7 will again show the race on free-to-air TV as it has for the past few years, with live coverage set to start from midday featuring races from Randwick and the Caulfield Cup meet.

Sky Racing will also broadcast the big race, as they have in previous years.

THE EVEREST 2022 PRIZEMONEY

The total prizemoney for The Everest is $15 million, making it the world's richest race on turf.

The winner will take home $6.2 million.

WHAT CONDITIONS ARE THE EVEREST RUN UNDER?

The Everest is an Australian Turf Club weight for age, thoroughbred horse race over 1200m. 

HOW DO HORSES APPLY FOR THE RACE?

The Everest is a slot race, which means that slot-holders pay for a horse to be included in the race.  

Typically, investors pay $600,000 in advance and then find a horse to fill the slot. In an effort to control quality, only 12 horses may enter the race.

Despite being one of the biggest races of the year, The Everest is not classed as a Group 1.
