Group 1 racing returns to Royal Randwick this weekend, with the running of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
The running of the $1.5 million event will see some of the best middle-distance horses in the country in action, with a wide-open field vying to join a historic list of past winners.
Ellsberg and Top Ranked fought out dead-heat in 2022, while other previous victors include Happy Clapper, Winx and Super Impose.

What is the Epsom Handicap?
One of the longest-running Sydney spring races, the 1600m Epsom Handicap was first introduced in 1865 and earned Group 1 status in 1979 for all horses three-year-old and above.

The race will be the eighth on an 10-race card at Randwick and is scheduled to jump at 4.05pm AEST.
