Jockey Anthony Allen won't live this one down in a hurry.
Riding second favourite Catch Me Latar ($5) in the fifth at Beaudesert in south-east Queensland on Tuesday, the hoop kicked for a home a lap early during the 2450m race.
Allen steered his mount to the outside before whipping it a couple of times down the straight, passing the finishing post four lengths in front of second place but with another lap of the course remaining.
He quickly realised his error and guided Catch Me Latar back into the field, though the pair weren't able to recover, finishing 15 lengths off the leader in the last place.

Made a decisive move at about the 1900m mark 🤷♂️ pic.twitter.com/ynrW6rx413

I’ve done a stack on CATCH ME LATAR but have to admit even I feel sorry for Anthony Allen.. you’d just want to go to the back straight jump the fence and run home

I’ve had some sick beats in my time, and plenty this week, but that is the worst. Misjudged winning post with a lap to go at Beaudesert. $2.90 out to $4.60 and a loss like that on Catch Me Latar.

The incident is sure to draw comparison's with Rhys McLeod's effort on Mystic Outlaw at Moonee Valley in 2002.
McLeod was suspended for two months after mistaking the 3000m race for a 1200m race.
