Can Cameron Smith defend his Open Championship title against a field of golf's best?

The Aussie claimed his first major when winning the tournament at the home of golf, St Andrews, in 2022, cementing his status as one of the sport's elite.

No one has gone back-to-back in the Open since Tiger Woods in 2005 and '06, meaning Smith will have to be at the top of his game if he's to add a second major to his collection.

This year's championship is being played at Royal Liverpool for the first time since 2014 - a place which holds good memories for the in-form Rory McIlroy.

Coming off a win at last week's Scottish Open and having taken the victory the last time the Open was played at Royal Liverpool, the Northern Irishman will start as favourite.

With some dodgy weather expected, this year's Open is set to be a true test of links golf.

Here's how to ensure you don't miss a minute of the action:

How to watch the Open Championship in Australia: TV channel

Golf fans are in luck - Fox Sports has you covered with not one but two channels of live action.

Fox Sports 5 (Channel 505) has been converted to a dedicated "The Open" channel for the event, with live coverage to kick off at 3pm AEST on Thursday, July 20th and Friday, July 21st for rounds one and two, respectively.

On Saturday, July 22nd, coverage will begin at 7pm AEST, while coverage for the final round on Sunday, July 23rd will start at 6pm.

If that wasn't enough, from 8pm AEST during rounds one, two and four, and from 10:30pm during round three, Fox Sports 3 (503), will have live coverage of featured groups.

And, incredibly, that's not all.

From midnight during rounds one, two and three, and from 8pm during the final round, fans can focus in on the action from holes 13 and 17 - the tricky par 3s which could make or break the tournament.

The Open Championship live stream

Those fans without Foxtel need not fear, there's plenty of golf to be had on streaming service Kayo.
