Tiger Woods insisted players were "on the same page" after the BMW Championship went ahead amid protests in North America.
The opening round of the FedEx Cup play-offs event proceeded as scheduled on Thursday despite protests against racial injustice after the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.
NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS games have been postponed, while the Western & Southern Open was also paused.
In a statement, the PGA Tour said it supported players and teams who chose not to participate, and Woods said golfers agreed with the body's position.
"I talked to the commissioner and they were on board," the 15-time major champion told a news conference after his opening-round 73.
"Obviously he released his statement, and all the guys were on board.
"Obviously there was talk about it because of obviously what happened, but we're all on board, on the same page."

Woods is back in a tie for 35th after his opening round in tough scoring conditions at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The 44-year-old was even with three holes to play, but bogeyed all three to finish his round.
"The course was fine. The course is in perfect shape," Woods said.
"Not the way I wanted to finish, but the golf course is playing difficult for sure."
