Scottie Scheffler was already a Masters winner, but he was hoping to earn his second green jacket at Augusta on Sunday.
The 27-year-old got that job done, and it was partly thanks to the man on his bag for the event.
Ted Scott is caddying for Scheffler, as he has since the two teamed up before the 2022 PGA Tour season. The veteran caddie helped lead Scheffler to a Masters win in 2022 and has an impressive pedigree as a multi-time green jacket winner as a caddie.
Here's what to know about Scott and his career after he guided Scheffler to another major win.

Who is Scottie Scheffler's caddie?
Scheffler's caddie is Ted Scott. He has long been among the top caddies on the PGA Tour and has been on the bag for 16 PGA Tour wins, three of which were majors.
Scott first rose to prominence alongside Bubba Watson. The duo won 10 events together and two majors before they split up following the 2021 PGA Tour season, a decision prompted by Watson questioning his existential future playing professionally.
“I have no regrets, and I don’t think he does either,” Watson said of their split in 2022, per Golf.com. “[Scott] has made more money now without me. He needed 10 more years. I haven’t told anybody, but I had some struggles this offseason. Wrote a book about some struggles. My wrist, I had a wrist injury all last year. Had some PRP (platelet-rich plasma injections).
"So I called him and told him. I said, look, man, I’m 43 years old. I don’t know what I’m going to do. My wrist is killing me. He is like he needs 10 more years, and I gave him — I felt like a nice retirement package when we split up, but we split up mutually."
From there, Scott considered retiring to focus on providing golf lessons as part of a business, per Golf Digest. Ultimately, Scheffler came calling and Scott decided to pair with the golfer ahead of the 2022 PGA Tour season.
Since then, Scott and Scheffler have combined to win seven events, including the 2022 and 2024 Masters Tournaments.

Ted Scott major history
Scott has been on the bag for three major tournament wins. Impressively, all of them have been Augusta.
Scott's first Masters win came when he caddied for Watson in 2012. Watson shot 4-under on the last day of the tournament to set up a playoff against Louis Oosthuizen. The pair emerged victorious after two holes, as Watson managed to hit his approach within 10 feet of the hole despite a wayward tee shot into the pine straw.
Oosthuizen also missed the fairway but came up short of the green on his second shot. He bogeyed the hole, allowing Watson to win the Masters after an easy two-putt.
Watson won the green jacket again in 2014. During that event, Watson led after 36 holes and was tied with Jordan Spieth for the lead after 54. Watson pulled away on the final day at Augusta, shooting 3-under to win the tournament by three strokes.
Eight years later, Scott once again helped lead his golfer to a green jacket. This time, it was Scheffler, who won and he did so in nearly a wire-to-wire fashion. He led by five strokes after 36 holes, three through 54 and 72, staving off competition from Cameron Smith on the tournament's final day to earn the win.
Scott and Scheffler repeated that feat just two years later with a strong showing at Augusta. Scheffler was one shot off the lead after the first round but jumped into first place on the tournament's second day. He remained atop the leaderboard through the tournament's end but was tied at 6 under with Ludvig Aberg, Max Homa and Collin Morikawa on the tournament's final day.
Scheffler pulled away from the pack on the back nine to earn a four-stroke victory and give Scott his fourth Masters win.
Below is a full rundown of Scott's major wins from his decades-long career as a caddie.
Tournament | Score to par | Winning margin |
2012 Masters Tournament | 10 under | Playoff (1 stroke) |
2014 Masters Tournament | 8 under | 3 strokes |
2022 Masters Tournament | 10 under | 3 strokes |
2024 Masters Tournament | 11 under | 4 strokes |
Clearly, Scott knows Augusta National Golf Club well. After leading Scheffler to a second green jacket in 2024, he became one of the most successful caddies in Masters history.
