PGA Championship leaderboard 2017: Live updates, scores from Round 2 image

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The  PGA Championship  at Quail Hollow Club is the last major golf tournament of 2017. Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka and Sergio Garcia own each of the 2017 major championship titles this year already, while there are still a number of guys in the field searching for that first major victory.

Spieth has a chance to prove his dominance as he tries to become just the sixth player to complete the career Grand Slam. Spieth will have a shot at accomplishing the feat as the youngest golfer ever, at 24 years and 17 days old. This will be his only shot as the youngest, as Tiger Woods was the last to complete the Slam in 2000 at 24 years, 5 months when he hoisted the Claret Jug at St. Andrews.

In his opening round, Spieth didn't have a lights-out performance. He didn't put well, and ended Thursday at 1-over. In his group with Garcia and Koepka, Koepka came out with the best score of the three with a 3-under, tied for third.

Spieth tees off with Garcia and Koepka  on on Friday at 1:35 p.m. ET.

Rory McIlroy went in with the best odds to win  the 2017 PGA Championship, but again was slightly outshined by the others in his group.

McIlroy (+1) played a solid round, but was topped by Rickie Fowler (-2) and Jon Rahm (-1).

The leaderboard might not be what we expected through Round 1, but Thorbjorn Olesen and Kevin Kisner tied for the lead at 4-under. Five players, including Koepka, are tied for third. Another group of seven players crowds the leaderboard two strokes behind Olesen and Kisner. After fast greens on Thursday, there is some rain in the forecast for Friday that could alter playing conditions.

Two players have dropped out due to injury, Andrew Johnson and Si Woo Kim, while others struggled. Phil Mickelson finished +8 and defending champ Jimmy Walker at +10.

Some trouble for Rory.

Silver lining.

Bubba with some style.

Nice round here already from Kevin Na.

Friendly conversation, I'm sure.

Another special guest out at Quail Hollow, Andre Iguodala.

Jordan Spieth is getting dialed in early.

Fowler continues to climb up the board. He's at 3-under.

Rory. Insane. 😱😱

A birdie on 15 for Rory brings him back to even. Now, let's see how the Green Mile will treat him today.

Well done, Matt Kuchar. He's back to even par.

Kevin Kisner birdies his first hole and pulls away to get to 5-under.  He now has a one-shot lead over Thorbjorn Olesen.

Doesn't say much for Phil, who has two bogeys thru 5 holes. That puts him at +10.

Could be the time for Fowler to get his first major victory. He's at -1 thru 4 early Friday morning.

Jordan Spieth takes shots from the practice range behind a sand dune, Rory takes shots from the bottom of a hill on a cart path. They like to keeping things interesting. Rory is able to save par.

It's not even 9 a.m. but Rory is already looking for his shot on the cart path.

Still pretty congested at the top of the leaderboard.

The Featured Group on PGA.com of Rory, Rickie and Jon Rahm tees off at 8:25 a.m.

Back at it with tee times starting at 7:20 a.m.
