No golfer younger than 21 has ever won the Masters. Does Nick Dunlap have a chance to rewrite history this weekend?
Dunlap is participating in his first Masters less than three months after his historic win as an amateur at The American Express. He turned professional and joined the PGA Tour after that tournament.
While the young golfer faces long odds at the Masters, he proved in January that he can stack up against the best in the game.
As if playing in the Masters isn't intimidating enough, Dunlap is grouped with two major champions in Jon Rahm and Matthew Fitzpatrick to start the tournament on Thursday and Friday.
Here's what you need to know about Dunlap and his journey to the 2024 Masters.

Who is Nick Dunlap?
Dunlap joined the PGA Tour in January after a stunning win at The American Express. Dunlap became the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since Phil Mickelson in 1991 and the second-youngest PGA Tour winner in the last 90 years, behind only Jordan Spieth.
While Dunlap wasn't able to claim the $1.5 million prize for winning the event due to his amateur status, the win did give him the chance to join the PGA Tour on a full-time basis.
Before turning pro, Dunlap was a sophomore playing at the University of Alabama. He competed in the U.S. Open in both 2022 and 2023 as an amateur, failing to make the cut each time.
It takes an inquisitive mind to reach such a high level while still so young, and Masters favorite Scottie Scheffler revealed after a practice round on Tuesday that Dunlap has been picking his brain about playing in the prestigious event.
"He should be going to class, and instead, he's playing in the Masters," Scheffler told reporters. "He asks us a lot of questions, and I try to give him the best answers that I can."
Scheffler is just 27 himself, but he won the Masters two years ago and enters this year's tournament as the world No. 1 golfer. And Dunlap will get the opportunity to spend Thursday and Friday playing alongside the reigning Masters champion in Rahm.
How old is Nick Dunlap?
Dunlap is 20 years old. He won't turn 21 until Dec. 23, 2024. Should he defy the odds and win the Masters, Dunlap would be the youngest winner in the prestigious event's history.

Where did Nick Dunlap go to college?
Dunlap committed to the University of Alabama in 2022. He was ranked as the No. 1 golfer in the class of 2022 and had a longstanding connection with Crimson Tide coach Jay Seawell.
Dunlap was born in Huntsville, Ala., so he had a local connection to the school as well. His college career lasted less than two years, though, as Dunlap gave up the rest of his college eligibility when he turned professional in January.
