A surprising and unfortunate injury sidelined Nelly Korda for an LET Aramco Team Series tournament in late June.
But it won't keep her out of the fourth major on the LPGA Tour's calendar as the Evian Championship tees off Thursday.
Korda is seeking her second major championship of the season. She emerged victorious at the first on the calendar, the Chevron Championship, but missed the cut at the most recent two — the U.S. Women's Open and the Women's PGA Championship.
The 25-year-old has had back-to-back top-10 finishes at the Evian Championship but has never won the event. She has a chance to author an impressive comeback story in France if she can win her seventh tournament of the year after three straight missed cuts — and being bitten by a dog.

What happened to Nelly Korda?
Korda suffered a dog bite injury that forced her to withdraw from an LET Aramco Team Series tournament at the end of June.
"I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week's Ladies European Tour tournament in London," Korda said in the statement posted to her Instagram story. "On Saturday in Seattle, I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and recover fully."
She apologized to fans, tournament organizers and her sponsors for missing the tournament, which was held at Centurion Club in Hemel Hempstead, England, from June 28-30.
"Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to returning to the course soon," she added.
Korda didn't initially provide many details about how she suffered the injury, but she discussed it with fellow LPGA Tour golfer and dog-bite victim Alison Lee.
Lee then revealed more about the circumstances surrounding Korda's bite.
"It's an unfortunate circumstance and definitely scary," Lee told Golf Monthly of Korda's injury. "She got bitten by a dog that she didn't know, it was just at a random coffee shop."
It still isn't clear exactly where on her person Korda was bitten and how it could affect her play. But her ability to return for the Evian Championship is a good sign her injury wasn't too severe.
Now she hopes to round back into her early-season form after a rough patch over her last few tournaments.

Nelly Korda results 2024
Korda began the 2024 LPGA Tour season on a hot streak that saw her win six of her first eight events, including five in a row. She finished no worse than T-16th at any of the eight events and looked like the clear-cut best golfer on the tour.
But Korda missed the cut at three consecutive events following her win at the Mizuho Americas Open. She was a combined 15 over par in those six rounds, so she must perform much better to succeed at the Evian Championship.
