Playing on the PGA Tour isn't easy, but it gets even harder in one of golf's four majors. The courses for each event are among the toughest in the world and provide excellent tests for the world's top golfers.
Augusta National Golf Club is unique because it's the only course to house a major championship yearly. It has been home to the Masters since the tournament was established in 1934, so golf fans and PGA Tour members alike have experience with the course.
That gives grizzled Masters veterans a chance to card some low scores once they are familiar with the course.
Even so, the course record at the Masters isn't something that has been achieved often. Only two golfers have ever reached the mark, though numerous others have come within striking distance of it.
Here's what to know about the Masters course record and the lowest scores posted during the major championship.

What is the Masters course record?
The Masters course record is 63. It's been achieved twice in the tournament's history, first by Nick Price in 1986 and later by Greg Norman in 1996.
Price's record-setting round came on the tournament's third day in 1986. His 63 helped him finish tied for fifth at the event, his best-ever finish at the Masters.
Norman matched Price's record a decade later, opening the 1996 Masters with the record-tying 63 to give him a two-stroke lead over Phil Mickelson. Norman continued to lead the tournament after 36 and 54 holes, but he ultimately squandered it by shooting a 78 in the tournament's final round.
Norman finished second to Nick Faldo because of his final-round collapse. That marked his best-ever finish at the Masters, as he never managed to win a green jacket.
Numerous golfers have carded rounds of 64 at the Masters. That includes Rory McIlroy, who tied a final-round record by shooting 8-under at the 2022 Masters. That catapulted him into a second-place finish, just three shots behind champion Scottie Scheffler.
