World number one Jason Day faltered late to gift US Open champion Dustin Johnson another tournament victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
The Australian trailed Johnson by one shot late on the final day but his hopes of snatching victory, or at least forcing a playoff, sunk when he found the water at the par-5 16th hole.

Day hooked his tee shot and put his second shot behind a tree.
He received a major break when officials granted him relief because it was ruled a fan deliberately stopped his ball.
But Day couldn't capitilse, slicing his aggressive third shot into the drink to eventually finish in a four-way tie for third.
Jason Day makes a 7 at No. 16.

Johnson, playing ahead of Day, bogeyed the 18th hole but held onto edge fellow American Scott Piercy by one shot after his second-straight round of four-under 66.
The reigning U.S. Open champion trailed Day throughout most of the final round Sunday, but Johnson made a clutch birdie on the par-four 17th to take the lead at seven under.
Jordan Spieth, Matt Kuchar and Kevin Chappell finished alongside Day at three under.
Spieth did his best to make a Sunday charge, but his final round 3-under 67 could only take him to three under for the tournament; three shots behind Johnson.
Johnson now has the chance to win two majors and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational for the first time since Rory McIlroy in 2014.
