Day dropped to seventh while Scott moved down to ninth after both were overtaken by Englishman Justin Rose.

It has been an excellent month for Rose, whose victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans has left him sixth in the world rankings.

Rose is in fine form, having finished tied second at The Masters, and he followed up with a one-stroke victory over Cameron Tringale at the Zurich Classic.

Rose later stated that Steph Curry's match-winning performance for Golden State Warriors in game three of their NBA play-off series against the New Orleans Pelicans inspired his victory.

The  2013 US Open champion has now leapfrogged Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson and Jason Day to climb from ninth to sixth.

Countryman Lee Westwood also enjoyed success over the weekend by winning his third Indonesian Masters title on the Asian Tour.

Westwood now moves back into the top 30, rising from 33 to 27.

Wu Ashun made history by becoming the first Chinese player to win a European Tour event on home soil.

His victory at the China Open saw him take a big leap from 247 in the world to 126.
