Back in 2016, Jim Furyk scored 58 in the last round of the Travelers Championship. It was the lowest score for a single round in PGA Tour history. That record has now been broken.
Cristobal Del Solar, a 30-year-old golfer on the Korn Ferry Tour, set the record for the lowest score ever in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event, scoring a 57 in the first round of the Astara Golf Championship at the Pacos Course at Country Club de Bogata in Columbia.
It should be no surprise that the sterling opening round put Del Solar well out in front with the lead, five strokes ahead of six golfers tied at 8 under.
Overall, the course is the shortest on the Korn Ferry Tour at 6,254 total yards, though it is made challenging by narrow fairways. It was the first time in the course's history a golfer has posted a score under 60, while there have been nine total golfers in Korn Ferry Tour history to go under 60.
