Best SuperDraft prop picks for 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic: Top DFS golf over/under props including Tony Finau Round 1 birdies image

Happy summer, Sporting News Nation! We have a great holiday weekend of golf lined up at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic, and we're excited to put together a SuperDraft prop parlay filled with over/unders of our top best bets and favorite sleepers for this annual tournament at Detroit Golf Club.

Big Tony Finau will be looking to defend his championship after an incredible -26 last year. During that dominant performance, he amassed 27 birdies while bogeying just once. However, he's been a popular fade from experts leading up to this weekend due to his recent struggles with the putter.

One guy who's not struggling: Rickie Fowler. The 34-year-old Californian has mounted a bit of a career resurgence this season, with seven top-10 finishes and 14 places of T20 or better. His average finish over his past four outings: T8. Fowler's driving, approach, and putting have all been strong, making him one of the most popular picks to Rocket into the Fourth of July.

While we will likely be fading Finau, we can't stay away from Fowler right now. But our real money-makers will be the sleepers few other SuperDraft users will be capitalizing on. Don't pick too many OVERs of high-profile golfers — those are the guys that oddsmakers do the most research on! Pinpoint some under-the-radar dark horses whose playing style and recent hot streaks make them a great bet to emerge.

Not quite sure how SuperDraft works? Here's the scoop: users can hand-select two or more player prop over/unders to bet, and the payout increases with every additional prop wager added. A bet on just two over/unders yields a potential payout of 3X the stake. Three correct picks would pay out at 6X. Four picks: 10X. Five: 20X. Six: 35X. Seven: 65X. Eight: 100X. The maximum you can bet on an eight-leg parlay prop is $5.

Get it? Got it? Good! Let's make some winning SuperDraft picks for the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club. Best of luck and enjoy your Independence Day!

Best SuperDraft Golfer Prop Picks for 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic

Tony Finau — OVER 68 Round 1 strokes

Finau has been struggling with his flat-stick as of late, and his past four tournaments have been U-G-L-Y for T-O-N-Y. Between the PGA Championship at Oak Hill, the U.S. Open at L.A. Country Club, the Charles Schwab and the Travelers, Finau had 32 combined bogeys. If his short game continues to let him down, he will be lucky to get out of Round 1 with a 70. Detroit Golf Club is only a birdie-fest if you maintain a strong greens-in-regulation percentage and avoid three-putts — Finau has failed in both those respects over the past month and a half.

Rickie Fowler — UNDER 68 Round 1 strokes

Now here's a golfer who's locked in at just about every aspect of the game. Fowler has averaged an opening-round score of 67 over his past four tournaments — including a masterful 62 at the U.S. Open at LACC, in which he carded a whopping 10 birdies. He finished the U.S. Open with 23 birdies, and we expect a similar number out of him by the time he's done with DGC. He's one of BetMGM's biggest liabilities for a reason — he's driving accurately, hitting his fairways and greens, and getting it done with the putter. We love Fowler to carry over his strong momentum into this weekend.

Hideki Matsuyama — UNDER 5 Round 1 birdies or better

Matsuyama has enjoyed a stellar PGA season, but he often gets off to slow starts. Over his past four tournaments (Travelers, U.S. Open, The Memorial, and the PGA), he has averaged just two birdies or better in the opening round. Don't look at his final scorecards when deciding between his over/under on a Round 1 prop — while other golfers deteriorate in the later rounds of tournaments, Matsuyama tends to heat up as the weekends progress. The Japanese native is an easy UNDER, at least for Round 1.

Keegan Bradley — OVER 5 Round 1 birdies or better

Keegan Bradley

Murray is coming off an amazing win at the Travelers, finishing at -23 thanks in large part to nine opening-round birdies. TPC River Highlands, home of the Travelers, plays much like Detroit Golf Club in many ways, and we expect Murray to get off to yet another strong start with the par-4s on Thursday. Last weekend was no fluke — Murray also had seven birdies at the PGA Championship at Oak Hill last month. He's in prime form right now and we expect him to continue to dazzle with his driving efficiency, approach shots, and putting. Hopefully he puts the finishing touches on our four-leg prop parlay entering the holiday weekend!
