Aussies at the Masters 2022: Scores, highlights and updates image

Six Australians were in the field at Augusta for the Masters this year.

Cameron Smith was a contender throughout all four rounds but ultimately fell short, while Min Woo Lee produced an unbelievable start to his final round.

Sporting News kept track of each of the six players through the weekend, with scores, highlights and summaries following each day's play.

WINNER: Scottie Scheffler (-10)

ROUND 4 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

Needing a perfect round to stand any chance of catching Scheffler, Smith began with two birdies before following those up with consecutive bogeys.

He finished the first nine one-under par but soon stumbled, bogeying the ninth before a double bogey on the 12th ruled him out of Masters contention.

Two birdies on the final four holes ensured the Aussie ended the tournament with his head held high in third.

ROUND 3 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

After a disappointing second round, Smith found his groove again on Saturday and sits second overall heading into the final round.

The Aussie nailed six birdies and could've been even closer to current leader Scottie Scheffler if it wasn't for two bogeys - one of which came on the third last hole.

If Smith can iron out his game heading into the final round, anything is possible.

ROUND 2 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

If the first day of Masters action felt like a dream for Smith, the second may have felt more like a nightmare.

He started well enough - four-under - before returning back to even and tumbling down the standings as a result.

Two late birdies on the 15th and 18th holes saw the Aussie gain some momentum, and while he mostly likely won't be thrilled at a tied sixth standing, it's better than he was facing midway through his day.

ROUND 1 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

The in-form Aussie led the pack for much of the day before Sungjae Im edged in front.

Smith currently sits alongside Dustin Johnson at four-under, having carded a first-round 68.

Smith's score could have been even better but a double-bogey on the 18th brought him back to the field.

Having made a double on the first hole, the Queenslander caught fire with eight birdies in 12 holes from the fifth.

Smith was heavily favoured to do well at Augusta this year and he certainly impressed on Thursday.

ADAM SCOTT

ROUND 4 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

Despite starting the round with a bogey, Scott did find some rhythm in his final round.

Two birdies on the second and ninth hole had him on track to go under par for the first time only for a double bogey on the 16th and bogey on the 18th seeing him slip up.

ROUND 3 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

Scott put in a shocking round three but managed to survive the cut by the skin of his teeth.

He started his day with consecutive bogeys and ended it with a double bogey on the 17th.

Lucky to be playing on, the 41-year-old will be hoping to end the tournament with a much better final-round showing.

ROUND 2 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

You should never say never, but it looks like Adam Scott's dream of a fairytale second Masters title is officially DOA, posting an eight - or triple bogey - on the 15th hole, sending the ball first into the water, before three-putting to finish up the hole.

Scott attempted to make up for this, with a birdie on the next hole with a par 3, but he now sits tied for 45th, with the hopes of a second green jacket fading before his very eyes.

ROUND 1 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

The 2013 Masters champion made a solid start to his tournament, although four bogeys in eight holes gave him plenty of work to do.

Another bogey on the 18th left him slightly off the pace.

As always, Scotty's choice of attire was as reliable as his swing.

MARC LEISHMAN

PLACE SCORE ROUND 1 ROUND 2 ROUND 3 ROUND 4

ROUND 4 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

A disappointing final round from Leishman, who managed to turn it around slightly with two birdies on the final five holes.

ROUND 3 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

A strong showing from Leishman that could've been even better.

Three bogeys on the last nine, including one on the 18th hole, meant the Aussie wasn't able to make up as much ground as he could have.

ROUND 2 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

A bogey on the 18th hole was the lone bright spot for Leishman, who seems to be hanging on but at tied-45th, not doing too much more than that.

ROUND 1 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

You can't win the tournament on Thursday but you certainly can lose it.

A typically tidy round from the big Victorian who made 15 pars and sits +1.

CAM DAVIS

PLACE SCORE ROUND 1 ROUND 2 ROUND 3 ROUND 4
46 +12 75 73 79 73

ROUND 4 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

A much-improved showing from Davis, who pulled off an impressive birdie on the eighth hole.

ROUND 3 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

Bogeys on the first and last hole made this a round to forget for Davis.

The 27-year-old produced just one birdie on the second hole - an effort that was followed up by a double bogey.

Like Scott, Davis does just narrowly survive the cut and gets to play a final round.

ROUND 2 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

Making a big jump in the standings, Davis shot a 73 to move into the (admittedly bloated) tied-45th tier.

He birdied four of his last six shots to extend his Masters debut.

ROUND 1 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

The 27-year-old probably would have taken it if you told him he'd only make three bogeys on his Augusta debut.

Davis was +3 on three, seven and 14, unfortunately he went birdie-less to leave him some way off the pace.

LUCAS HERBERT

PLACE SCORE ROUND 1 ROUND 2 ROUND 3 ROUND 4

ROUND 2 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

A tough second day for Herbert, moving from two-over to six-over, and now having to pack his bags.

“I played really well. I don’t know what the longest putt I made was but couldn’t have been longer than three feet. A bit of work to do on that … very frustrating on the greens," Herbert said.

ROUND 1 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

Another Aussie making his maiden appearance at Augusta, Herbert made birdies on the second and 13th holes, the latter of which was flanked by a double and a bogey to put the brakes on any momentum.

Still very much in the hunt if he can put together a solid second round.

MIN WOO LEE

PLACE SCORE ROUND 1 ROUND 2 ROUND 3 ROUND 4
T14 +2 73 75 72 70

ROUND 4 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

A tale of two rounds for Lee on the final day at Augusta.

The Aussie was in electric form to start as he nailed an eagle on the second before bagging four consecutive birdies to finish off the first nine holes.

Lee then lost his cool, following up his birdies with four straight bogeys to take the momentum out of his day.

A birdie on the 17th gave his round some silver-lining and a solid overall showing saw him still jump up the places.

ROUND 3 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

A balanced round from Lee sees him fight another day at the Masters.

For every birdie he nailed in round three, a bogey wasn't too far behind as he settled for an on-par round.

ROUND 2 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

Also joining the infamous tied-45th is Min Woo Lee, extending his debut Masters efforts thanks to a birdie on the 15th hole.

ROUND 1 WRAP + HIGHLIGHTS

Was two-under through five holes, thanks to some slick putting, before a double on sixth slowed him down.

Made two more birdies but three bogeys in four holes from the 10th hurt his score.
