Defending Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial champion Adam Scott said he wants to convert his form to the scoreboard this week.
The Australian began 2015 in fine fashion with a tied for fourth finish at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, but he has failed to fire since - missing the cut at the Valspar Championship and Wells Fargo Championship and a best finish of tied for 35th in four other PGA Tour events.
His audacious bid to revert back to his favoured long putter at the Masters saw him to a tied for 38th result, but it has not stopped him from dropping out of the top-10 rankings for the first time since mid-2012.
Scott claimed his form has been OK, but it was a matter of converting ball striking to the scoreboard.
"I feel like I'm playing well but I certainly haven't put any numbers on the board and that is really what it is down to now," the world number 11 said.
"I've just got to really grind it out and get the most out of it whereas this year I've really gotten the least out of my game.
"I've made the worst of it and that is not a nice feeling at all so I think it's a good week for me to really tone things down a little bit and be very patient, which is pretty much how I played last year and it worked pretty well."
Scott praised Colonial Country Club organisers for the state of the course in Fort Worth, Texas, and said he hoped the weather forecast - which reads rain and storms for the tournament's duration - would not come to fruition.
"The course is in great shape, I think the greens are the best I've ever seen them pre-tournament so hopefully the weather can behave a little bit and keep this course in really nice shape," Scott said.
Scott will tee off alongside Jason Dufner and Patrick Reed at 08:06 local time (13:06 GMT) on Thursday.
