Report: Warriors set to sign Jonas Jerebko after being waived by Jazz image

Oh, those Golden State Warriors. It’s not as splashy as their DeMarcus Cousins’ signing, but the two-time defending NBA champions have another move in mind that will make them an even stronger choice for their fourth title in five years.

ESPN reports that forward Jonas Jerebko intends to sign with the Warriors on Tuesday (AEST) if he clears waivers. The Jazz waived the 6-10 forward Sunday.

He will become a free agent Tuesday if no team signs him and guarantees his $4.2 million salary. Like Cousins, Jerebko would sign a one-year contract with Golden State.

Jerebko, 31, would provide even more firepower to the Warriors’ already deep bench, and his 3-point accuracy (41.4 percent last season) would make him a perfect fit in Golden State’s offense.

An eight-year NBA veteran, Jerebko can sign a veteran minimum deal with the Warriors, ESPN reported. He averaged 5.8 points per game last season, slightly below his career average of 6.2. He is a career 36.3 percent shooter from 3-point range.
