Daria Gavrilova has made a remarkable return to action, earning a straight sets win over 24th seed Dayana Yastremska in the first round of the French Open.
Returning to the rescheduled major after an extended injury lay-off, Gavrilova despatched the 20-year-old Yastremska 6-4 6-3 in an hour and 29 minutes.
Playing just her second tournament in over a year, Gavrilova converted three of four breakpoint opportunities while saving eight of nine on her own serve.
The difference in the end was unforced errors, with Yastremska offering up a whopping 38, to the Australian's 16.

After battling persistent foot and Achilles injuries in 2019, the 26-year-old called time on her season after a first round loss at the US Open.
Her time on the sidelines saw her ranking plummet to 788 in the world and she's playing this year's French Open on a protected ranking.
The win marks the first time since the 2018 US Open that Gavrilova has advanced beyond the first round at a Grand Slam.
The result sets up a second round clash with Canada's Eugenie Bouchard.
Gavrilova's win was one of just two Australian first-round victories overnight with lucky loser Astra Sharma the other winner.
In the biggest result of her career to date, Sharma beat 59th ranked Russian Anna Blinkova 6-3 2-6 7-5.
It's her second main draw grand slam win and sees her set up a second round showdown with the 27th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.
Alexandrova easily accounted for fellow Aussie Madison Inglis 6-3 6-3 in their first round match.
Ajla Tomljanovic was the other Australian woman in action on Sunday, losing 6-0 7-5 to Maria Sakkari.
It was all doom and gloom in the men's draw, with Alex De Minaur suffering a shock loss to qualifier Marco Cecchinato 7-6(9) 6-4 6-0 and Jordan Thompson losing in straight sets to Radu Albot.
