Matthew Pavlich, Angus Brayshaw says West Coast CEO wrong about Gaff and Andrew Brayshaw playing golf image

Former Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich has joined the fracas in the wake of Andrew Gaff’s hit on young Docker Andrew Brayshaw in last Sunday’s Western Derby.

Pavlich took to twitter in response to West Coast CEO Trevor Nisbett’s claim Gaff and Brayshaw had played golf together just days before the incident, along with Brayshaw’s brother Hamish who is a rookie on the Eagles’ list.

“The brothers and Andrew Gaff were on the golf course together, so it's an extraordinary situation that we all find ourselves in at the moment," Nesbitt said on Monday.

"I think it's a genuine friendship... It wouldn't surprise you, with Hamish at our club, that there is a reasonable relationship there."

However, Pavlich disagrees, saying the two players had never met, let alone walked around 18 holes together.

“If you’re going to be critical of getting the facts right, you’d want to be sure that your’s (sic) are accurate also,” the Dockers legend tweeted on Tuesday.

“Particularly if they’ve never actually met …”

Pavlich signed off with emojis of a golfer and a thinking face.

His post soon attracted many replies, most of them less than supportive.

Andrew's brother Angus also took to the AFL Exchange Tuesday to deny his brother Andrew had played golf with Hamish Brayshaw and Andrew Gaff. "I heard it after people were asking me about it and it seemed weird that Hamish hadn’t mentioned it [playing golf with brother Andrew and Andrew Gaff] to me," Brayshaw said.

"I messaged him this morning and he said he's not sure where they’ve got it from but they never play golf together."

Gaff will face the AFL Tribunal tonight and is expected to receive a heavy penalty, most likely rubbing him out for the rest of the season.

He has yet to re-sign with the Eagles and is understood to be in the sights of a number of Victorian clubs, making it likely he has played his last game in West Coast colours.
