Where are the Matildas playing tonight? Stadium, location for Australia vs. Sweden

Australia and Sweden will face off for third place at Brisbane Stadium.

Whilst the venue's typical capacity is 52,500, a slightly reduced capacity of 49,461 has been set for the tournament.

The altered capacity is due to infrastructure adjustments, making room for broadcast and media facilities.

Matildas lineup: Predicted teams for Australia vs. Sweden

Sweden projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): 12. Falk (GK) — 4. Lennartsson, 13. Ilestedt, 14. Bjorn, 5. Sandberg — 20. Bennison, 17. Seger — 22. Schough, 7. Janogy, 10. Jakobsson — 15. Blomqvist

  • Suspended: N/A

It is always difficult to predict lineups for third place playoff matches, as coaches often use the game as an opportunity to rotate the side and give more minutes to players who haven't featured prominently at the tournament.

This means for Sweden we may see the likes of Olivia SchoughJennifer Falk and Madelen Janogy start for just the second time this tournament on the wing and attacking midfield spots.

Coach Peter Gerhardsson may look to keep centre-back Amanda Ilestedt in the side so she can chase the top goalscorer record for the tournament.

If Sweden opt for a stronger lineup, Fridolina Rolfo and Stina Blackstenius could once again start in the forward spots for the Scandinavian side.

Australia projected starting lineup (4-4-2): 12. Micah (GK) — 22. Grant, 15. Hunt, 4. Polkinghorne, 7. Catley — 5. Vine, 6. Wheeler, 23. Cooney-Cross, 9. Foord — 11. Fowler, 20. Kerr

  • Injured: N/A
  • Suspended: N/A

Predicting Australia's lineup is even harder, as Tony Gustavsson will be under pressure to push for third place at their own World Cup, as well as sharing the minutes around.

If the Matildas opt to make changes, the likes of Courtney Nevin and Charli Grant could come in at the full back spots, whilst Clare WheelerTameka Yallop and Alex Chidiac are candidates to start in the midfield.

With Alanna Kennedy exhibiting delayed concussion symptoms, Clare Polkinghorne and Aivi Luik are in line to step in, whilst Kyah Simon may play her first minutes of football since October off the bench.

It is likely that Gustavsson will opt for a middle of the road approach in terms of rotating the side, whilst still putting in a strong lineup to fight for the third place spot and finish a great tournament for the country on a high.
