Matildas tonight: Kickoff, start time for Australia vs. Sweden
Tonight's third-place playoff between Australia and Sweden begins at 6:00 p.m. local time.
- Date: Saturday, August 19
- Time: 6:00 p.m. AEST (4:00 a.m. ET)
Live pre-game coverage on Channel Seven and Optus Sport is due to begin at 5:00 p.m. AEST.
What time will the Matildas game finish tonight?
Generous amounts of additional time have been applied to matches this World Cup, so it is difficult to know exactly when a game will finish.
Factoring in the kick-off time, two 45-minutes halves, a 15-minute half-time break, and roughly 10 minutes of additional time, tonight's clash between Australia and Sweden could finish around 7:55 pm AEST.
This is assuming we have a result after 90 minutes, though.
If the match is drawn and extends into 30 minutes of extra time, it likely won't finish until 8:30pm AEST.
If we're still deadlocked after that, penalties could see the match wrap up around 8:45 pm AEST.
