The fourth World Cup match between Argentina and France is their most important meeting of all.

While Les Bleus — the reigning champions — are aiming to take the title for the third time in seven tournaments, Argentina will go at least 40 years without winning it if they do not triumph in Qatar.

Then, there is the subplot of a match that Lionel Messi has described as his last chance to win the World Cup, with that fact — and his duel with France superstar Kylian Mbappe — likely to take most of the headlines.

Neither nation was unduly troubled in the semifinals, as Argentina thrashed Croatia 3-0 a day before France ended Morocco's fairytale run to the final four with a goal in each half of a 2-0 win.

Here are the full details on the World Cup final kickoff time, TV channel information, lineups and early betting odds.

Argentina vs France World Cup final lineups

Argentina are unlikely to make changes to their attack after Messi confirmed that a hamstring issue he was troubled by during the semifinal will not affect his availability for the final.

Head coach Lionel Scaloni was without both of his fullbacks through suspension against Croatia. Marcos Acuna could return for Nicolas Tagliafico at left-back, while Nahuel Molina will be hoping to continue on the opposite flank after deputising for Gonzalo Montiel

Argentina projected lineup (4-4-2, right to left): 23. E. Martinez (GK) — 4. Montiel, 13. Romero, 19. Otamendi, 8. Acuna — 7. De Paul, 24. E. Fernandez, 5. Paredes, 20. Mac Allister — 9. Alvarez, 10. Messi

France head coach Didier Deschamps may have decisions to make over defender Dayot Upamecano and midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Both missed the semifinal following illness, although Bayern Munich's Upamecano was sufficiently fit to be named on the bench.

France projected lineup (4-2-3-1, right to left): 1. Lloris (GK) — 5. Kounde, 4. Varane, 24. Konate, 22. T. Hernandez — 8. Tchouameni, 13. Fofana — 11. Dembele, 7. Griezmann, 10. Mbappe — 9. Giroud

Argentina vs France World Cup final odds

France are narrowly fancied by the oddsmakers and unbeaten in their last 10 World Cup matches against South American nations, winning six times. Their last defeat in such a fixture came against Argentina, losing 2-1 in the first group stage of the 1978 finals.

There have been 10 previous World Cup finals between the continents, with South American sides ending up celebrating on seven of those occasions. Argentina, though, have twice been the losers when South American teams have missed out, and France also bucked the trend by hammering Brazil 3-0 in the 1998 final.
