As far as Le Classique matchups go, this one is as tasty as they come for a late September meeting as Paris Saint-Germain host Marseille at Parc des Princes.

Both sides have suffered early slips in the Ligue 1 title race, as Marseille sit fourth on nine points and PSG loom a point behind them in fifth through the first five games of the season. Victory for the hosts would see them right back in the fold, while Marseille could go top of the table if they can muster an upset victory.

Thus, one or both of these sides will emerge from the 90 minutes in Paris staring down a deficit in the title race, as the two clubs require all three points to keep themselves at pace.

Marseille last won at this venue back in 2020 but have since dropped three straight road games against PSG in Ligue 1 play, all coming by a one-goal margin.

Kylian Mbappe leads the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts early on despite missing the first game of the season, having bagged seven goals in his first four domestic games. Challenger Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is yet to get off the mark this term, although he will hope a brace on Thursday in Europa League play can spring him to action back in France.

PSG vs Marseille projected lineups, team news

PSG do not have many critical injuries to work around, other than the hamstring issue for Nuno Mendes and a foot problem for Marco Asensio.

New striker Goncalo Ramos has struggled to get off the mark at PSG since signing from Benfica this summer, and thus it's likely that fellow new addition Randal Kolo Muani will be given a chance to impress, having made just one substitute appearance in the league since his arrival.

PSG projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Donnarumma (GK) — Hakimi, Marquinhos, Skriniar, L. Hernandez — Zaire-Emery, Ugarte, Vitinha — O. Dembele, Kolo Muani, Mbappe.

Like PSG, Marseille are nearly at full strength early in the season. Only a hamstring problem for forward Ismaila Sarr holds the squad back from an injury perspective, while midfielder Pape Gueye is suspended for the foreseeable future after problems with his transfer from Watford arose.

Geoffrey Kondogbia is back and fully fit from his knee injury and could be in line for a full 90 minutes here after earning an hour of time in the midweek game against Ajax. Azzedine Ounahi finally got a chance to make his Marseille debut midweek, but Jordan Veretout picked up an assist off the bench, so it remains to be seen who will earn the start.

Marseille projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Lopez (GK) — Clauss, Gigot, Mbemba, Lodi — Ounahi, Roniger, Kondogbia — Ndiaye, Aubameyang, Harit.
