Arsenal head to Crystal Palace on Monday looking to continue their strong recent record against the Eagles.

The Gunners were 2-0 winners at Selhurst Park just over a year ago and, given they won 10 London derbies in the Premier League last season, they will be in confident mood.

That said, Palace will certainly feel an upset is a possibility. Since Roy Hodgson returned to the club on March 23, they have won three and drawn two of their home league games, and their only defeat in their past 10 top-flight matches came at the hands of Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta's men started 2023/24 with a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest, while Palace were 1-0 winners away to Sheffield United. Although neither side was completely convincing in those victories, Hodgson has no doubt his players will be facing potential title challengers.

"We're expecting to see them come here and produce all their skills, and I think they will show us respect to make certain they bring their best game to Selhurst Park, unfortunately," he said.

"It means we will have to bring our best game to Selhurst Park and hope our fans can weave that magic that they do in getting extra ounces of energy and play from the team that maybe I, as a manager, can't expect them to do."

New goalkeeper signing David Raya is on the bench as Aaron Ramsdale keeps his place in the starting lineup.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal prediction, odds

Palace's recent record against Arsenal doesn't make for pretty reading — they've only won one of the past eight meetings. They faced one another at Selhurst Park on the opening day last August, and despite a good performance from the home side, they still suffered a 2-0 defeat.

We're not expecting this to be an overly comfortable outing for the Gunners, particularly given their injury problems, but they should have enough to get over the line.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal
