It was a short but undeniably sweet second Millwall debut for Tim Cahill overnight as he came on as a 90th-minute substitute against Cardiff City.

More than a decade since he last played for the English club, the Socceroo replaced goal scorer Lee Gregory late on as his side played out a 1-1 draw at The Den.

The 38-year-old left A-League side Melbourne City in pursuit of more game time ahead of the World Cup later this year and will be hoping for plenty more minutes in Millwall colours in the coming weeks.

While barely getting a touch of the ball during his brief second debut, his cameo appearance certainly got fans very excited.

Fellow Aussie and new teammate Nick Meredith played every minute of the game with the draw a solid result for Millwall who currently sit 14th in the Championship.

Cahill first signed for Millwall in 1998 and played over 200 games for the club scoring 52 goals over six years before securing a move to Everton.

The Socceroos all-time leading goal scorer subsequently played for the New York Red Bulls, Shanghai Shenhua, Hangzhou Greentown and Melbourne City before returning to Millwall this year.
