PSG clinched their second straight French Ligue 1 title with a draw at Strasbourg putting them out of reach with one match left to go in the season.

It was those two guys again, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, combining on the PSG strike which was Messi's 16th goal of the campaign. But Strasbourg responded with an equaliser scored by ex-PSG man Kevin Gameiro with about 10 minutes remaining.

The league trophy is PSG's ninth French title in the last 11 seasons, but it was still considered an underwhelming season for the French giants who once again went out in the Champions League Round of 16 and also failed to win the Coupe de France.

The draw also served Strasbourg, who clinched survival in Ligue 1, avoiding relegation thanks to other results.

The final day of the 2022/23 season will take place on Sunday,

PSG Ligue 1 champions 2022/23

PSG entered the Strasbourg match with a six-point lead over second-place Lens and a win or draw was always going to be enough to get the job done. There was never any urgency or panic that the title was ever in doubt during this match, even when Lens were padding their lead early in their match (they won 3-0).

The PSG celebrations were muted after Messi's goal, and the postgame handshakes were also a rather subdued. It was a title that was on its way for some time —  a record No. 11 for PSG, who saluted their traveling supporters:

Is Lionel Messi leaving PSG? How about Neymar?

PSG's offseason is shaping up to be more interesting that their predictable title run-in, with Lionel Messi's contract winding down and Neymar also rumoured to be a candidate for a transfer. In recent days, there have also been reports that Kylian Mbappe will not be exercising his option to extend his contract with the club.

With the chatter growing around the club's stars and a potential shift in recruitment policy from stars to homegrown Paris-based players, there has also been less noise around manager Christophe Galtier. A final decision on next season's manager would presumably be the first domino to fall in what should be an enthralling summer transfer window in Paris.

Half-time: Strasbourg 0-0 PSG

Halftime: This 0-0 draw continues to suit both PSG and Strasbourg, who are trying to secure the Ligue 1 title and Ligue 1 safety, respectively.

A loss for either team would bring some nerves on the final day next weekend as 2nd place Lens are winning 3-0 at halftime, as are relegation battlers Nantes (1-0 at Lille).

42nd min.: Chance PSG! It's a Lionel Messi free-kick and he just misses the target. Messi will continue to be dangerous on set pieces around the box.

38th min.: Chance Strasbourg! Diarra hits the post! Diallo knocks a long ball down to Diarra who blasts a beautiful drive which had PSG's Donnarumma beat. These two Strasbourg forwards are giving PSG issues.,

36th min.: Chance PSG! Messi misses the target. He'll feel he could've done better with that look at the top of the box.

34th min.: Penalty for Strasboug? A cross from the right into the PSG box was deflected by Bitshiabu and the ball went off his arm. But the referee consults with the VAR and no penalty is given.

Meanwhile, Lens are winning 3-0, so PSG's lead will be cut down unless the Parisians can score.

29th min.: Chances PSG! First it's Mbappe on a solo run in the box stopped by Doukoure. And on the ensuing corner, Strasbourg 'keeper Sels makes the stop on a Renato Sanches volley.

27th min.: Lens and Nantes are both winning their matches. PSG's lead is currently at four points with Strasbourg also ahead of Nantes by four.

The draw suits both PSG and Strasbourg just fine for now.

14th min.: Chance Strasbourg! PSG defender Bitshiabu with the backpass intercepted by Habib Diallo, who sends a ball across the six-yard box from a tight angle, but no one is there.

Strasbourg very much into this game and their fans are making themselves felt.
