Socceroos vs Saudi Arabia: When, where, team news and how to watch in Australia image

The Socceroos will play in Australia for the first time in over two years when they host Saudi Arabia in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Thursday night.

After losing to Japan last time out, Graham Arnold's side need to bounce back against the current group leaders in Western Sydney.

Saudi Arabia have won all four of their group games to date and conceded just three goals in the process.

Should the Socceroos slip up again, top spot could quickly prove too tough a task as they look to book their place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

An impressive winning run came to an end for the Socceroos last month as Japan snatched a late and deserved 2-1 victory.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, beat China 3-2 to continue their good start to the final phase of qualifying and make them the team to beat moving forward.

Australia played some sloppy football against Japan and they will be hoping a return to home soil can inspire a sharper performance.

Both sides are without a number of key players with rainy conditions expected in Sydney on Thursday night.

The Socceroos have previously dominated this fixture having won four of their last five meetings and only losing once in 1997.
