The Socceroos earned their 10th consecutive World Cup qualifying win in a scrappy 1-0 victory against Vietnam in Hanoi on Tuesday night.

It wasn't the green and gold's best performance but a vital three points was secured to continue Australia on their path to the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Goalscorer Rhyan Grant was the star, while the rest of the team was a bit of a mixed bag.

Sporting News rates how all of the Socceroos performed against Vietnam...

Maty Ryan 6

Had a reasonably quiet night with Vietnam mainly playing on the counter attack. Came for a long ball and missed it in the latter stages but Vietnam failed to punish.

Brad Smith 6

His first Socceroos cap since November 2019. Worked hard down the left flank but lacked quality with his attacking play.

Trent Sainsbury 7

Another assured performance at the back from Sainsbury, who also got on the ball regularly and probed well with his passing.

Harry Souttar 7

Has entrenched himself as a first choice centre-half. Dealt with any aerial threat and also stepped up on the press to snuff out trouble.

Rhyan Grant 8

Scored his first international goal with a great run and finish at the back post. The header was made difficult by the bounce. Tirelessly defended down the right flank also.

Jackson Irvine 6

Being used in a holding midfield role that he hasn't played much in at club level. Put in a solid effort but gave them ball away cheaply on a few occasions.

Ajdin Hrustic 7

Only earned a seven because of the magnificent assist he played for Grant's goal. Apart from that, gave the ball away too much and tried to make things happen too often.

Tom Rogic 6

Another one of the Socceroos' playmakers to give the ball away too easily. Got on the ball plenty but needs to improve his final pass.

Riley McGree 5

Didn't get involved enough during his time on the pitch. Only young and will improve but there could have been a better option to start.

Awer Mabil 4

After his magnificent performance against China, Mabil had an absolute stinker. Tried too much trickery with his dribbling and passing when just simple play was required.

Adam Taggart 5

Didn't get the best service but also failed to make the most of his opportunities when they came. Looks like he is lacking confidence.
