Visibility and relevance remain significant hurdles for the second-tier North American Soccer League, but one of its investors is hoping to make a big splash.
Brazilian great Ronaldo recently told the Brazilian newspaper Lance! he is planning to return to the field later this year for the NASL's Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

Ronaldo, 38, retired in 2011 and became a part-owner of the Strikers in December. He told SI.com in January that he would "try" to play in some games for Fort Lauderdale this year but acknowledged he had plenty of conditioning work to do in the meantime.
That remains the case, but Ronaldo told Lance! he's confident he'll be able to get into shape in time for the postseason.
"It's going to happen,” Ronaldo said, via Goal.com. “I have already said so. But it's going to be a bit later, in the playoffs."
Ronaldo helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup and three times was named the FIFA World Player of the Year.
