Harry Kane has continued to march up the all-time Premier League scoring table as he claimed second place on May 6, 2023.

Kane (with 213 Premier League goals in 320 appearances) is all alone in second place, surpassing Wayne Rooney.

The Spurs captain will need a few more seasons before he can realistically catch all-time leader Alan Shearer (260 goals in 441 appearances), but it looks like he may not get the chance.

On August 12 it was announced the striker had signed a four-year deal with Bayer Munich.

Here's an in-depth look at the names Kane is still chasing as well as the full list of top 20 all-time scorers in the league's history since 1992/93. Will he get the chance to break it?

Will Harry Kane break Premier League scoring record?

Kane is now behind only Shearer in the Premier League's career scorers list, clear of a number of certifiable greats. Indeed, only Shearer, Kane and Rooney have scored more than 200 Premier League goals.

Here's how Shearer finished his Premier League career:

  • Career total: 260 goals
  • Clubs: Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United
  • Years: 1992-2006

The pinnacle of strikers as far as the Premier League is concerned, Shearer is out in front on 260 goals and lays claim to the all-time record.

Shared between two blistering spells at Blackburn and Newcastle United, his ability to finish almost any type of chance is something most could never even dream of being matched.

Kane still needs 47 more goals to equal the record of the Magpies' talisman. That is likely to require three or four more seasons of high-level, double-digit output. It's clear Kane has a lot of work ahead of him to finish No. 1 — but that will have to wait now he's joined Bayern.
