A turbulent 2022/23 season for Neymar took another unwanted twist in February as the Brazilian superstar went down with another injury.
The 31-year-old needed to be taken off on a stretcher after rolling his right ankle in a Ligue 1 win over LOSC Lille on February 19.
Having injured the same ankle at the 2022 World Cup, Neymar was in visible pain and it was clear it would require treatment. It later became clear he had an ankle sprain.
PSG have since confirmed that Neymar will require surgery with the attacker set to be sidelined for a significant period.

How long is Neymar out?
PSG have offered an update on Neymar's situation, confirming he underwent surgery in Doha today, with the procedure described as 'going very well', and he will return to France to continue his rehabilitation in the coming days.
The Parisian club have stated it will take three to four months until Neymar can return to team training.
That timeline means he will miss the rest of the 2022/23 season but should be fit in time for the start of their next campaign.
Neymar had played 29 games this season in all competitions for PSG and looked to be back to his best on the pitch.

Neymar injury history
Neymar is no stranger to injuries and has particularly struggled when it comes to his lower limbs.
The Brazilian has twice been sidelined for around three months at PSG due to a metatarsal fracture.
Ankle and adductor injuries have also been fairly common for Neymar, who missed 22 club games across the 2021/22 season due to injury.
PSG said tests on his ankle in March 2023 had indicated substantial damage due to repeated injuries, with surgery considered the best course of action.
The club said: "Neymar has sustained a number of instances of instability in his right ankle in recent years.
"Following his latest sprain on February 20, the Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity."
