How many fans were at Matildas vs. Nigeria? Confirmed crowd, attendance for World Cup match at Brisbane Stadium
It may not have been a positive result for Australia on Thursday night, but the crowd was definitely a silver lining.
A total of 49,156 fans packed out Brisbane Stadium as the Matildas fell to Nigeria — almost a sell-out.
Whilst the venue's typical capacity is 52,500, a slightly-reduced capacity of 49,461 has been set for the tournament.
The altered capacity is due to infrastructure adjustments, making room for broadcast and media facilities.

Why has Suncorp Stadium been re-named for the FIFA Women's World Cup?
Brisbane is primarily known as Suncorp Stadium for commercial reasons, but that has been adjusted due to FIFA regulations.
Because the Women's World Cup is a high-level international tournament, FIFA requires corporate branding to be removed from stadiums.
This has impacted other venues too, with Accor Stadium re-named 'Stadium Austalia', whilst AAMI Park has become 'Melbourne Rectangular Stadium'.
