Matildas vs United States: When, where, squads, team news and how to watch image

The Matildas will welcome current world number one the United States to Australia for a friendly on Saturday afternoon.

After playing Brazil twice last month, Tony Gustavsson's side will face an even sterner test against the USWNT.

The Matildas haven't beaten the United States since 2017 and lost a thriller to them in a bronze-medal match at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this year.

Ahead of hosting the Women's World Cup in 2023, Australia have opted to welcome the reigning champions Down Under to see where they're at.

The Matildas have failed to beat the United States in their past four encounters and were held by Brazil in a 2-2 draw last time out

The USWNT, meanwhile, beat South Korea 6-0 in their most recent match and seem to have reset after having to settle for a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

With Gustavsson's side currently ranked 11th in the world, they'll be underdogs against the US but with a big home crowd behind them, they'll be fired up to secure a positive result.

USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski has also notably named a youthful squad for their trip to Australia with big names like Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan both missing.
