The Matildas will continue their preparations for the 2023 Women's World Cup with a friendly against Scotland in London on Friday.

Australia have only played three games so far this year as they build for the FIFA tournament on home soil.

Tony Gustavsson's side are currently on a seven-game winning streak having beaten the likes of Spain and Sweden in recent months.

The Matildas will be confident of extending that run against a Scotland side that failed to qualify for the Women's World Cup but does contain a number of quality players including Real Madrid midfielder Caroline Weir.

Matildas vs Scotland lineups

Australia will be without Steph Catley, Emily Gielnik, Chloe Logarzo, Elise Kellond-Knight and Kyah Simon, all missing through injury.

Alanna Kennedy and Caitlin Foord were also late withdrawals after picking up recent knocks with Amy Sayer and Matilda McNamara named in their place.

In better news, Ellie Carpenter and Holly McNamara both return to the Matildas squad after recovering from ACL injuries.

Australia predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Williams (GK) —  Carpenter, Hunt, Polkinghorne, Nevin — Gorry, Van Egmond — Vine, Fowler, Raso — Kerr

Scotland are also without a few key players in the form of the injured Erin Cuthbert and Christie Murray

In their place, the likes of Caroline Weir and Martha Thomas will be hoping to step up.

Coach Pedro Martínez Losa has included 17-year-old Emma Watson in the squad as the Rangers youngster looks to make an early debut.

Scotland predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Gibson (GK) — Smith, Clark, Howard, Docherty — Kerr, Cornet — Brown, Weir, Emslie — Thomas

Matildas vs Scotland prediction, odds

Two teams in contrasting form and facing very different years, it's hard to see Australia not winning this one comfortably as they build towards the Women's World Cup.

Gustavsson will want his team to continue gaining confidence ahead of the tournament and won't be taking this match lightly.

On paper, the Matildas boast a stronger and more experienced squad that should prove too much for Scotland to handle.
