The Matildas and New Zealand will face off for the second time in five days on Tuesday night. 

Australia struck twice in injury-time on Friday to claim a memorable 2-1 win against the Kiwis in Townsville. 

Both teams now head to Canberra for another clash as the 2023 Women's World Cup in their own backyards edges closer.

The Matildas dominated Friday's match but struggled to find the back of the net until Emily Van Egmond and Sam Kerr stepped up in the dying minutes. 

Coach Tony Gustavsson will be hoping his team can improve on their finishing which has been an issue of late

New Zealand put in a valiant performance on Friday as they defended well and opened the scoring via an Anna Green screamer. 

Despite the eventual result, the Kiwis will have taken plenty from that first friendly and have proven they can test the Matildas across 90 minutes. 

This is the Matildas' first game in Canberra since 2013 when they beat New Zealand on penalties in the Centenary Cup.

Alex Chidiac was a late addition to the squad after replacing Kyra Cooney-Cross. 

Katrina Gorry also returned to the team after having a baby last year and starred last time out against the Football Ferns

Gustavsson confirmed on Monday that the entire squad is fully fit, aside from Courtney Nevin.
