Manchester City are aiming to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter finals for a sixth consecutive season, with the Premier League champions' last-16 tie against RB Leipzig in the balance.

Josko Gvardiol's second-half header earned a 1-1 draw for the Bundesliga side in last month's first leg, where Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring for City.

Pep Guardiola is still searching for his third Champions League title, after winning two in his first three seasons at Barcelona.

City were beaten finalists when they lost 1-0 to Chelsea in 2021. Last season, they suffered a remarkable late collapse against eventual winners Real Madrid in the semifinals.

City's first-team squad trained with a clean bill of health on Monday.

Kevin De Bruyne returns to the starting lineup after being on the bench for Saturday's 1-0 win at Crystal Palace. Riyad Mahrez has only made one Premier League appearance as a substitute since opening the scoring in Leipzig and is again among the substitutes as Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish complete the front three either side of Erling Haaland.

Man City vs RB Leipzig prediction, odds

City have not lost a home knockout game in the Champions League on home turf since going down 2-1 to Liverpool in the quarter finals in 2018.

Leipzig have been in excellent form on the road this term, although a 2-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund at the start of this month ended a nine-match unbeaten run away from home. City are likely to provide a similarly tall task for Marco Rose's enterprising side.

Prediction: 3-1 Man City
