After receiving his his diagnosis in November, Miller returned home to Cork and sadly lost his fight on Friday.

Miller had a glittering football career that included stints with Celtic and Manchester United before he came to Australia in 2011 where he played for Perth Glory, Brisbane Roar and even a brief two-game stint with Melbourne City.

The midfielder ultimately returned home in 2015 for a season with hometown club Cork City before ending his playing days with American side Wilmington Hammerheads.

Perhaps one of Miller's greatest football achievements came early on his career when he was a member of the under-16 Ireland squad that won the European Championships in 1998.

Miller would go on to play 21 senior games for the Republic of Ireland with his sole goal coming against Sweden in 2006.
