Jude Bellingham transfer news, contract end, salary: Liverpool favorites to land Borussia Dortmund captain image

Jude Bellingham is the latest young star that Borussia Dortmund has polished up with an opportunity to fetch a significant transfer fee over the next few months.

The England midfielder moved to the German giants in 2020 and has already amassed over 100 appearances for them at the age of just 19.

Bellingham has impressed so much for Dortmund on and off the pitch that the teenager became part of the team's leadership group in 2022/23.

His strong performances have inevitably sparked plenty of transfer interest and it appears his time with Dortmund could soon come to an end.

Jude Bellingham transfer news

As the 2022/23 season begins to approach the finish line, a number of clubs are starting to think about signings for next season, and Bellingham is one name many clubs have their eyes on.

Liverpool have been the most strongly linked, with Football Insider revealing in February he has become the club's top priority in the summer of 2023. One potential hitch, however, emerged in March when the same outlet reported that acquiring Bellingham would require a fee of £120 million in 2023.

Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and PSG have also all been linked with a possible move for Bellingham. The numbers of clubs in the mix would only drive up the price.

Dortmund aren't expected to let Bellingham leave easily or cheaply, however, with suggestions they may look to tempt him to sign a new contract that would contain a buyout clause but run until 2026

Bellingham's current Borussia Dortmund contract runs until June 30, 2025, giving Dortmund all the leverage when it comes to a possible transfer.

While his current salary is unknown, BILD reported in January 2023 that Dortmund are willing to pay the midfielder €15 million ($16m) a year should he sign a new contract with the club.

Such wages would make him Dortmund's highest-paid player in history, surpassing sums made by club legend Marco Reus.

Dortmund signed Bellingham from Birmingham City in 2020 for €25m ($26.6m) with his current transfer value estimated to be around €110m ($117m), according to .

Jude Bellingham at World Cup 2022

If he wasn't already on every club's radar, Bellingham certainly got there after impressing for England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The 19-year-old started all five games for the Three Lions as they reached the quarterfinals — knocked out out by eventual finalists France.

Bellingham scored in England's first game of the tournament, a 6-2 win over Iran, and contributed an assist in their 3-0 victory against Senegal in the Round of 16.
